![]() ![]() I stole this idea from the book Making Music: 74 Creative Strategies for Electronic Music Producers by Dennis DeSantis.A place for me to dump all the sounds I made for me to organize at a later point.Generators: A folder for my sound design sessions.Any time i download new kits i go through them and pick out the sounds that i like to put into my personal stash, and then i delete the rest of the kit. ! Organize !: All the kits that i've bought or downloaded that I haven't gotten around to organizing yet.Now that I've gotten the main folders out of the way, let's dive even deeper. WIPs: Work in Progress, although I don't really use this folder anymore because I try to finish as much of my music as I can.Sample Libraries: Where I store all my sample libraries, primarily my kontakt libraries.Stems: Stems or Trackouts of beats for when artists or labels ask.Moods/Descriptors: Happy, Dark, Ethnic, etc.NAME # BPM Can also further tag them by 3 different categories.Renders & Exports: Exported Beats & Songs.Make sure to select "Collect All and Save.".Organized by Year and then Month folders.Project Files: All my ableton project files.Master: Everything that I use within a beat.From there I created several other folders that allow me to further organize my files. I have a main Audio folder that I put everything music related in there. Syncthing: Allows me to sync across devices over the internet.Carbon Copy Cloner: Great mac File copier.A Harddrive connected to your local network so that you can access it from any of your devices at home (or sometimes even away from home.)Ĭloud storage is more convenient because it allows you to access it from anywhere, however it is much less secure than a physical drive, while physical drives are more secure, you lose the luxury of being able to access it from anywhere on less you're carrying it around with you.Velcro strips to strap it onto the back of your laptop to carry around. ![]()
